“Let’s Meet In The Music”
Music is the mechanism for change, a way to break down negativity and replace it with positive self-worth. To help our Wounded Warriors accomplish a task, to reach a goal, to build, to create again…this is our mission. We hope to inspire our Wounded Warriors and ultimately for them to inspire others. Almost any disability can be accommodated by music. Traditional instruments can be altered and revised for most disabilities.
Not only can currently available computer/tablet technologies be readily utilized for music performance and as a teaching tool, but a computerized music revolution is happening right now, in our lifetime. Adaptive computer technologies can be a catalyst for the most fulfilling music experience possible. MELODY AMERICA will incorporate this new computer music revolution technology in our program outreach “MELODY MAKERS”. MELODY AMERICA will access this revolutionary technology to “3D computer print” music instruments. No longer will musical instruments need to be purchased from a manufacturer, technologies are available to produce [i.e., to “print”] instruments as needed. Not only is it possible to print/manufacture our own instruments, we can alter and/or adapt the instruments to our injured/disabled person’s special needs and requirements.
With the availability of these new technologies we will be able to make other necessary objects and items for our injured or disabled military personnel. Prosthetic hands, legs, levers, grabs and other crucial adaptive disability products, some of which are extremely costly and very difficult to obtain from the Veterans Administration are now within reach. MELODY AMERICA using emerging and developing 3D technologies can print a prosthetic device at a fraction of the traditional cost. A motorized prosthetic hand costs, on average, around $40,000.00…a similar 3D printed hand cost about $400.00. The future is now and MELODY AMERICA wants to be able to realize and offer these emerging technologies to our Wounded Warriors and other military personnel.
